Feeling Hopeful, Dear Old Universe!

So starts this last day of 2016 for me.

The sun is shining through a thin veil of haze, and it’s mostly blue sky this morning.

I have a lot of thoughts spinning around, but my pen wasn’t moving; so, I’m writing this out, just to get the flow going again.

The haze I just wrote about brought to mind Hendrix’s “Purple Haze.”  I suddenly wonder if he was referring to some brilliantly colored sunrise or sunset when he wrote that, rather than some drug-induced state, like I’ve always assumed.

“Last day of 2016” – I’m thinking about the thought construct that creates that kind of division.  Tomorrow will flow from today; will be more similar and related to today than unrelated.  Yet, by virtue of some long-ago declaration, tomorrow will be in an entirely new and separate year.

All of the stories we tell are like that.  Where does a story begin and end?

When we read a book, it has already been decided for us by the author.  Haven’t there been stories that you’ve read, though, where you’ve finished the last page, only to find yourself wondering – “What happened next?  Where did our hero go from here?”

For the stories of our lives that we tell ourselves, there are no specific beginnings or endings.  Wherever we start the story, there’s always more information before the beginning, and after the ending.

This year that I’ve had – I have a story for it.  Where does that story begin?  January 2, maybe; when I wrote my first Sunrise Pages?  My walk on Christmas last year, where I received my inspiration?  My start at L.L. Bean?  Our move up to New Hampshire?  Do I go back to the beginning of my Life Coach journey?  Or, back to my dad’s illness?

There is no wrong answer – it’s all me; it’s all my story.

Today’s Prompt:

The point, Dear One, is that there is always plenty of triumph in our stories, in our navigation of ups and downs.  There are some real “Phoenix Rising” moments.

Be willing to see how often you’ve done good work, helped others, followed your integrity, dared to try, and lived Your Purpose.

Celebrate the stories of You!
