Supreme Love, Dearest Creator!

We’ve received some rain overnight, and everything is wet and shiny underneath the solid gray overcast.  We’ve been fortunate to receive little doses of rain without being deluged with too much all at once.  Thank you!

October First.  So begins the final quarter of 2016.  As I gaze out at the yards and tree-covered hills outside, I’m imagining snow.  I’m hopeful for more snow this year than last.  And, I’m wondering when we’ll have our first snowfall of the season – in about a month?  Or, will it come sooner?  We’ll see.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of helping a woman pick out an insulating layer in preparation of her trek on el Camino de Santiago.  The Way of St. James.  I love that I’ve put myself in a place where I keep bumping into people who know, have done, or are planning to do The Camino.

The Camino is a spiritual journey; a holy pilgrimage.  And, to me, it’s a focused intention that’s really a metaphor for our entire life’s journey.  There is sacred and divine in every thing we do – the toast we butter, the tea we steep, the shirt we iron or fold, the dinner we prepare and share, and all of our relationships with everyone around us, ourselves, and the Divine.

In the messiness and noise of our daily lives, we get so caught up with chasing, and trying to catch up, that we so often feel overwhelmed, and think ourselves deficient – when, in every moment and in each breath we take, there is the miracle and loving relationship with the Divine.

What’s powerful about a pilgrimage like The Camino is that it strips away a lot of the noise; it leaves us raw and bare – just us.  And, it helps us experience the Divine, around us and within us.

It is a voluntary disruption.

Here, Dear One, I offer you Today’s Prompt:

Today, I’m going to invite you to meditate on the Divine.

Begin with a focus on your breath in; your breath out.  Then, once you feel centered and grounded, reflect on your day; all the moments of life you’ve experienced today.

The miracle of a cup of coffee, the technology and all the people involved to manifest that coffee in front of you.

Look outside at the rain, or sunshine; at the trees, the light, the birds, and the wind.

Remember the interactions you shared today, the opportunity to be a part of others’ lives, and them in yours; how each person’s energy and presence affected you, and yours them.

Celebrate the experience of the food you ate, and the preparation of the meal.  Reflect upon where it comes from, and all that’s involved.  The act of eating – the Divine into the Divine.

Finally, return to your breath.  The most basic essence of Divine Love.  Each breath in, and out; that which gives and sustains your life.  Your breath is your most intimate connection to your relationship with the Divine.

Each of us, on our own spiritual journey – Our Life!  Amen, Dearest Guides!  And, Buen Camino!
