Wow, Generous Creator!

What a clear spring morning to which I’ve awakened.  The light on the land, the still air and cool temperature, and the birds singing to it all – Here is contentment!

Yesterday, too, was a really nice day.  I was working in-store, so I didn’t see a lot of it.  I did get outside for my breaks, and I got to work on a simple install of a Thule box on a factory-installed roof rack, so that also got me outside for a bit.

On my first two breaks, I went out and sat at my car by the river that runs past our mall.  While on my first break, I enjoyed watching a female goldfinch, dull yellowish-green in coloring, flit from branch to branch nearby, in the trees that line the riverbank.

Then, while enjoying my lunch break, I heard, then spotted, a female cardinal land on a branch near me.  She changed perches a few times, then launched herself toward the river, and actually landed on the top of an exposed rock right in the riverbed.  Soon after, I heard the distinct, short whistle again, which I’ve learned to identify with the cardinal; and, sure enough, the male cardinal was now in the trees nearby, sitting in the shade.  Also nearby, a butterfly with the colors of a monarch, but not the size or shape, landed on the other side of the same tree that held the male cardinal.  We all shared a few moments together, before I headed back into work.

It was a challenge for me to get acclimated back to in-store yesterday.  I attribute it to the two days off; but, also to the satisfaction and joy of working and playing outside.

There is a balance I will be seeking, but I feel very fortunate that my path has led me to where I am, and the opportunities ahead for me.

Here’s a Prompt you can try:

Visit your sit spot.  Center and ground yourself, focusing on your breathing.  Listen, look, and feel.  Even when you don’t know the names, you can enjoy observing and listening to the Dance of Life and Nature around you.

Remember that you are included in your experience – not separate.
