Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem

Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem

An interesting, pretty fulfilling weekend, all things considered.

It started with a Friday night out with Joy and good friend C.  Both are teachers, so any plans on a Friday night are adventurous and a bit of wishful thinking.  We traveled into Cambridge for a music show at Club Passim with Elixir opening for Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem.  Really neat place, and both acts were so much fun.  Of course, once the music ended around 11 P.M., we were all feeling tired, and the slick dusting of snow made walking and driving slightly disconcerting.  Once we were all safely home, the late night seemed so worth it.

Saturday, Joy felt the full-on effects of a cold.  The late night probably didn’t help, but I think the illness was fairly inevitable.  I watched a clip from my Life Coach Training series, went for a run, then decided to follow my inspiration for a short writing assignment for class, simmering up some homemade minestrone soup to nurse Joy to health.  So a couple hours after shopping for ingredients, then chopping, dicing, and stirring, Joy seemed to approve the results.

This morning, Joy inquired about breakfast out, but I thought she sounded too sick, and we didn’t want to get anyone else sick.  So, I whipped up some pancakes (Yum!  Even if I do say so myself).  Another run, another video for class, some more soup, and now some writing.  We also had a pretty open conversation this afternoon.  I love that we trust each other enough to be open with each other, listening with compassion and understanding.
